INNOVATIVE YOUTH THEATRE IN THE HEART OF YOUR COMMUNITY.

WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE RELAUNCHING OUR STAGE COMPANY CLASSES ON SATURDAY 20th April AT MOUNT PLEASANT CENTRE, BOA

We couldn’t be more delighted to be re-launching this Theatre Company for young people aged 12-18 , focusing on devising new work as well as published material.

We will be exploring material from contemporary musicals and plays as well as physical theatre and devising.

We set up this new Youth Theatre Company in October 2012 to give young people the opportunity to take their performance journey a stage further.

Traditionally, young people have worked on devising a new piece around a particular theme or relevant topic with a professional writer, director, and choreographer. We have varied our programme with works by published writers, and in our last season 19/20 we were able to present an innovative new version of ‘The Snow Queen”’ which opened on Saturday 15th February 2020, just before we were shut down by the Covid Pandemic restrictions.

We have performed our work at the Arc Theatre, Trowbridge, The Egg, Theatre Royal Bath & St Margaret’s Hall, Bradford on Avon.

In 2016 Stage Company performed Bassett by James Graham as part of The National Theatre Connections Festival.

Past plays to come out of this innovative programme are

Faceless an anti-social media play', Dreamcatcher about not giving up on your dreams, and Over 18 exploring war issues effecting young people, all devised by the company working with writer Moira Townsend Williams.

In 2014/2015 we drafted in Tom Wainwright, writer-in-residence at Bristol Old Vic to work with us and Mind The Gap, about the generation gap was born. 2015/2016 saw us presenting Bassett by James Graham for National Theatre Connections project which was performed with Over 18.

In 2017/18, 13 local young people presented ‘13’ the award-winning Broadway Musical.

In 2016/2017 our Stage Company worked with Award winning Bristol director Dave Lovatt, local published composer/musician, Helen Temmink, and West End company The Showstoppers to produce 'FAMOUS' a piece exploring the effects of fame.

Our aim is always to give our cast a challenge, so they get a taste of what it is like to be working in a professional company.
